Throughout his career, Stephen Ambrose led many trips to the places that he wrote about, a natural extension of his enthusiasm for investigating history. Edie Ambrose, her husband, Yakir Katz, and Stephen’s son, Andy Ambrose. His passion for teaching Americans about their nation’s heritage and her heroes motivated him to found Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours along with his niece Dr. Stephen Ambrose led his first tour, the D-Day to the Rhine tour, in the late 1970s with his friend Peter McLean when he was a professor at the University of New Orleans. He was a co-executive producer of the epic HBO series Band of Brothers, which was based on his book. He founded the D-Day Museum in New Orleans, which has grown into The National WWII Museum. He was the author of several best-selling books, including D-Day: June 6, 1944, Undaunted Courage and Band of Brothers. Ambrose founded Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours, but as everyone who loves history knows his legacy reaches far beyond our historical and WWII tour company. Today our full-time historians carry on his legacy.
